Congresswoman Fallin Congratulates State Senate GOP for Historic Victory

November 05, 2008

Congresswoman Mary Fallin issued the following statement on the Republican takeover of the Oklahoma State Senate:

"Tonight represents an historic accomplishment for Republicans and the state of Oklahoma. After 100 years under a Democrat controlled State Senate, Oklahomans have finally elected a Republican majority. For 12 years as Oklahoma's Lieutenant Governor and President of the State Senate, I was privileged to work side-by-side with Senate Republicans and can testify to their dedication and commitment to the people of Oklahoma. Many people worked hard to get us here, but no one worked harder than Senator Glenn Coffee, the man who will serve as Oklahoma's first Republican Pro-Tem.  I anticipate this new majority, lead by Senator Coffee and others, will be able to work successfully both within their party and with Senate Democrats to pursue the policies of economic growth,  fiscal discipline, traditional family values and ethics reform that they campaigned on.  My congratulations go out to the Senate Republicans, and my thanks to the many men and women who offered their tireless support."
