Congresswoman Mary Fallin visited the Medical Park Center on Tuesday in Bartlesville, meeting with medical professionals and discussing ways to bring more affordable, quality care to Oklahomans.

Fallin, a candidate for governor in 2010, said her goal was to reduce medical costs and expand access to care without expanding the reach of the federal government or levying new taxes. She has been a vocal opponent of President Obama’s healthcare plan, saying it would reduce the quality of medical treatment and come at a high price to taxpayers, at over $1 trillion.

Fallin toured the facility with Dr. Stan DeFehr, a cardiologist and the Governor of the Oklahoma State Chapter of the American College of Cardiology.

"We had a great meeting today,” said Fallin. “Bartlesville is a great place to live, and today I met some of the hardworking doctors and medical professionals who make sure our citizens, not just here but all over the state, are taken care of."

“I think the White House would do well to listen to our men and women in Oklahoma. Like most Americans, they want to find ways to reduce the costs of medical equipment and medical treatment, so that more Americans can afford high quality care. They recognize, however, that President Obama’s plan to socialize medicine will ultimately undercut the healthcare system we have in place and give us less for more: lower quality care at a greater cost to taxpayers. That’s why I’m fighting against this plan and continuing to meet with doctors and interested citizens throughout the state to discuss affordable, common sense alternatives to government run healthcare."

DeFehr said he enjoyed the meeting and was happy to have an opportunity to offer his advice on healthcare to Fallin.
